The design of a CNC router and 3D printer used for personal projects.
OVERVIEW
Design is based on the Lowrider CNC which is an open-source CNC. Modifications have been made including adding linear rail for enhanced stability and custom control boards and motors.
Coding used a standard 3D printer Marlin setup however a number of modifications were required to turn it into a CNC machine. This included custom control boards, stepper motor current settings and safety features.
CNC router is a wired design to ensure constant power output.
Machine capable of routing various types of wood and aluminium with the correct settings.
3D printer design was added to enhance functionality. 3D printer setup uses a polycarbonate non-heated build plate which is suitable for PLA 3D prints and CNC router setup uses a spoil board.
Design consists of X, Y and Z homing.
Design uses a combination of 3D printed parts and plywood with fixing bolts.
Overall an extremely good project to learn about the design and coding of 3D Printers/CNC's, and was useful for other personal projects.
