Faheem Aziz

1st Class MEng Product Design Engineer

Summary

I'm a mechanical designer with a passion for creating technically innovative products that are intuitive, manufacturable for real user needs. With a background in cell and gene therapy instrumentation, automated machinery, and design consultancies, I thrive in bringing ideas to life from early-stage concepts through to prototyping, testing, and production.

I’m hands-on with CAD, prototyping, and design for manufacture, and I enjoy working closely with multidisciplinary teams and clients to solve complex problems with clarity and creativity.

Whether it's refining a user workflow, integrating sensors into a control system, or iterating a mechanism for better usability, I’m driven by the challenge of turning technical complexity into elegant, functional solutions.

I’m currently just under four years into my IMechE chartership journey and plan to apply for Chartered Engineer status in the very near future.

About Me

University

I hold a First Class Master’s degree in Product Design Engineering (MEng) from Loughborough University, where I gained broad exposure to multiple engineering disciplines and developed a strong foundation in the full design process — from concept to manufacture. I particularly excelled in technical, user-focused design challenges that combined creativity with real-world problem solving.

Industry Experience

I’ve worked across manufacturing, manufacturing automation, design consultancy, and biotech. From real-time problem solving on the shop floor to developing medical and industrial products, my experience spans hands-on engineering, client collaboration, and cross-functional teamwork — now applied to cell and gene therapy instrumentation at MFX.

Hobbies

Outside of work, I enjoy personal engineering and design projects. I've built an automated golf ball marker, designed and rendered products in Blender, and crafted desktop and developed an integrated CNC router and 3D printer setup - all driven by curiosity and a love for design. I’ve also taken courses in areas like injection moulding, expanding my understanding of manufacturing processes and product development.

Cricket

As a passionate sportsman, I have enjoyed playing cricket for the majority of my life. I enjoy the development of skills involved and the sense of being part of a cohesive team. I played for Essex (at county level) from the ages of 10-16, as well as tours of Barbados in 2015 and Pakistan in 2024 and 2025 - even being featured on the official ECB social pages!

Software

Solidworks

I’ve used SolidWorks and PDM extensively across all my roles, developing advanced skills in solid modelling, sheet metal, and surfacing. I’m confident in producing detailed engineering drawings to BS8888 standards. My experience spans from early-stage concept development to production-ready large assemblies.

Autodesk Inventor

I use Autodesk Inventor regularly for personal projects, developing strong skills in 3D modelling and design. It’s the software I use at home for exploring ideas, building functional prototypes, and refining mechanical concepts outside of work.

Siemens NX

I developed strong proficiency in Siemens NX during university, progressing from foundational modelling to advanced surfacing and engineering drawings across multiple modules.

Keyshot and Blender

I’ve used KeyShot professionally to create high-quality visuals and animations that effectively communicate design intent to clients. For personal projects, I use Blender, where I’ve developed strong skills in rendering and animation as shown from my projects.

Adobe Suite

I’ve used the Adobe Suite effectively throughout my career from concept sketching in Fresco and graphic creation in Illustrator, to visual editing and motion graphics in Photoshop and After Effects. These tools have supported everything from early-stage ideation to polished client-facing visuals.

Excel VBA, MATLAB and Visual Studio

I’m confident using Excel VBA, MATLAB, and Visual Studio, having applied them for personal and professional projects. This includes data analysis, and supporting medical device regulation during my time at Roundpeg. These tools have helped streamline processes and solve complex engineering challenges efficiently.
